Happy New Year Everyone!
I hope that everyone had a safe and enjoyable holiday season.
Well?
How did you do?
Did you over-indulge? If so, it's ok, lots of us do it. We can get right back on that horse.
Some things to keep in mind:
You may be having strong sugar cravings and/or withdrawals right now. You WILL get past this in about two weeks. Be patient and try to occupy yourself with other things.
The scale may not be done moving up. If you are like me, your actions can take as much as two weeks to show on the scale. That means that stuff that you ate days ago may not yet be reflected. Also, if you are already back to eating healthy, what you do today may not show up for awhile. Again, be patient. Give everything about a month to settle down.
Are you suffering a bit from post-holiday depression?
Get out of the house. Get together with friends. Take up a hobby – the craft stores have stuff on sale right now. Perhaps you can buy some things to make for next Christmas. Something my husband and I often do this time of year is start planning our next vacation. It gives us something to focus on and look forward to. Don't turn to food. This too will pass in just a couple of weeks.
Remember, you have been through this before and you will get through it again. As always, I strongly encourage you to make some notes to yourself about what worked and what didn't so that you can review it next year.
I hope that my regular communication throughout the holidays has been helpful to you. I'd certainly love any feedback. This newsletter will be the last of my "Holiday Helpers" and I'll see you again next month.
